The best long-term strategy for increasing the financial stability of families in our region is to prepare today’s students to pursue postsecondary opportunities and graduate into in-demand career fields that provide a family-sustaining wage.
Our Education to Careers (E2C) Collaborative is focused on the second half of the Cradle to Career Continuum, including the following milestones which lead to the final goal of employment that provides financial stability.
The Work:
In these first foundation building years, the collaborative has focused their work in Pocatello and Chubbuck. The goal is to develop small pilot programs, learn what works best in specific communities, and then scale up and expand those programs and strategies within other communities in our region. The imPACT East Idaho E2C collaborative has honed in on the following as current outcomes and strategies:
Outcome:
All students in Eastern Idaho will obtain a post-secondary credential leading to economic empowerment.
SMART Goal: To increase the Go On Rate in School District #25 Pocatello/Chubbuck.
Strategies:
- Create a PR Campaign to:
- Educate our community about the value of post-secondary credentials of ALL varieties.
- Clearly define pathways to high demand jobs available in Eastern Idaho for the next ten years.
- Increase professional development to high school college & career counselors about the varied pathways to post-secondary credentials.
- Create an online resource for students and parents highlighting opportunities to explore pathways to high demand jobs for the region.
