Ameri Corps Vista
Engagement Specialist
Are you ready to join us and boost community engagement within our local nonprofit community? We would love for you to join our team as our next Ameri Corps VISTA. Building engagement, sourcing volunteers, and locating resources are all part of sustaining local programs serving families across our region. You can be that bridge!
How you’ll help:
Oversee United Way of Southeastern Idaho volunteer events and support United Way community engagement strategy across all impact areas. Develop strong relationships with community partners to ensure effective capacity building strategies to enhance the potential outcomes of local programs working to alleviate poverty in our 7-county region.
Essential Responsibilities:
Represent United Way of Southeastern Idaho at volunteer and community engagement opportunities such as volunteer orientations, tabling events, skills-based volunteer projects, and onsite opportunities. Manage internal and external relationships and communication for volunteer recruitment on behalf of UWSEI. Optimize JUST SERVE to promote volunteer opportunities with partners.
Support Director of Donor and Community Engagement with United Way of Southeastern Idaho Signature Events including, Days of Action, 5K Your Way, Beauty and the Brunch, and the Annual Murder Mystery Fundraiser. Be present at public speaking engagements in the community related to various topics on volunteerism and contribute to strengthening the capacity of United Way’s impact projects through connection.
What you will need:
Great organizational skills and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Substantial event planning experience. Strong relationship building skills and ability to work effectively with UWSEI donors, volunteers, agencies, and community representatives. Good oral communication and writing skills, including presentations, public speaking, written reports, and other documents. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and willing to undergo a background check. Vehicle recommended.
Ameri Corps VISTA is a national service program through the Corporation for National and Community Service. VISTA members serve full time for a one-year service term and receive the following benefits:
- Upon successful completion of service, choice of an Education Award ($6,895.00 for education expenses) or an end of service cash stipend ($1,800.00)
- Modest living allowance of approximately $17,500.00
- Flexible schedule
